The Mediterranean hits 22–25°C, the sea warms to about 20°C by the end of the month, and everything is open without being full. Croatia, Sicily, Crete and Majorca are all at their nicest. Beyond Europe, May is the last good month in the Indian Ocean before the winds change, and Bali's dry season is starting. The only caveat is the late May bank holiday and half term, which bump prices for a week.
