The Mediterranean sea is still 23–24°C into early October while the air cools to a pleasant 24°C. The Gulf drops back under 35°C and becomes comfortable again. South Africa, the Indian Ocean, Japan's autumn colour, Vietnam and Sri Lanka are all in season. Multi-centre trips in particular work best this month, because both halves are usually good at the same time. The one caveat is October half term, which lifts prices for a week.
